Today, we would like to highlight our CGS employee, Melissa Shoemaker, on her birthday!

Get to know more about Melissa and her time at Compass below:

1. When did you join the Compass Government Solutions team?

I joined the CGS team in August 2021 as our Vice President of Proposal Operations. After working with Tracy for almost nine years at a previous, successful company I was honored to be offered a role at Compass.

2. What’s your relationship like with the rest of the team?

I had the pleasure of working with Tracy, CEO and Michelle, VP of Strategic Growth at our previous company. We have a great family feel culture at Compass and that is something I value greatly. Tracy has always welcomed honest, transparent, and collaborative communication, I work best with that type of leadership. We all are grateful to have each other’s support.

3. How has your career grown since you started with Compass?

Accepting my position with CGS gave me the opportunity to create and develop the proposal department exactly as I, and the team, see it working most efficiently. There is always growth in the process and frequent evaluation takes place after every project. I have learned better and faster ways of doing things through our new opportunities working with experienced partners and professionals, as well as our internal team.

I’ve also had the opportunity to be a part of all aspects of the business as a startup. This has really helped me to understand the building of a company and being a part of the beginning structure is very rewarding. I’m looking forward to growing CGS and my knowledge base in the years to come.

4. What’s an interesting fact about you?

I am currently eight months pregnant with my third child. We are beyond blessed and extremely grateful for the opportunity to be parents. We do our best to enjoy every moment of life as a family and cannot wait to boat, camp and travel with our new baby this summer
